For anonymous visitors, using real-time ephemeral signals without persistent tracking.

David Nilsen
I am Dave Nilsen (legal name David Nilsen), a technology consultant focused on private AI data platforms and the design of digital experiences that adapt to what people are trying to do.
I founded PKG Systems in 2000; the practice works with enterprises, mid-market companies, and government organizations on data architecture, integration, and intelligent systems.
Aware Design
I developed Aware Design, a digital design approach presented as the ninth paradigm in web design. It organizes websites and applications around individual visitor and user intentions rather than around authorial messaging, screen constraints, or developer workflows. The approach distinguishes:
For anonymous visitors, using real-time ephemeral signals without persistent tracking.
For authenticated users, drawing on history and preferences for continuity.
The central claim is that intelligence functions as the architecture of the experience, not as a bolted-on feature. Public materials are at awaredesign.com.
The concept, its foundations, evolution, and origin.
